Hailing from Seattle and Bellingham, Washington, Big Sur brings a brand of folk music that's dark, pretty, and often orchestral, with a New Orleans funeral procession sense of joy. The songs are often painfully autobiographical, and reminiscent of the music of Frank Black – howling and playing with dark themes that should hurt more than they do.
Big Sur's music finds comfort in the most intimate and fragile moments and lets words break like heirloom porcelain figurines, but the songs carry hope and nod to the Southern-Gothic characters of old country.
