ABOUT THE SONG: I wanted to make a song people could dance to, so I started by lifting the chorus partly from the patter I use in my 'other life' as a square dance caller. The verses tell the story that turns the square dance calls into more of a metaphor for a relationship. I was troubling over the middle verse one evening when Maya deVitry and Shane Leonard came by my cabin with cocktails. I had written "Don't be a flower on the wall" and was desperately looking for something less cliche. Maya suggested "Leave your whiskey by the wall" which I loved enough to call the song done. Since we made this video just a few hours later, I forgot to sing the new lyric! You'll just have to sing it for me. You'll hear where it goes. – Kristin
